Project Overview

As part of APA Group’s East Coast Grid Expansion Project, initiated in 2023 to facilitate a 25% capacity increase on the South West Queensland Pipeline, Suffcon was engaged in 2024 to deliver the bulk earthworks scope for the SS6 Compressor Station, located southeast of Morven, Queensland.

This project formed one of eight new compression facilities being developed across three phases of the pipeline expansion, contributing to a significant upgrade of Australia’s critical gas infrastructure.

Scope of Works

Suffcon’s responsibilities included comprehensive civil and access works on what was predominantly a greenfield site, situated directly adjacent to an operational scraper station on the live gas line. The proximity to this critical infrastructure demanded meticulous planning and execution to ensure asset integrity and uphold the highest safety standards.

Through expert planning and disciplined construction practices, Suffcon delivered these works safely and efficiently, supporting APA’s broader objective of enhancing gas supply reliability and capacity across eastern Australia.
